Reconstruction: the Roman Army
comes in the Camonica Valley
The Roman presence, territorially very extended, constituted an element of appeal in which the Alpine valleys people confronted. Historical documents are evidence of the contacts between the Roman army and the “wild people” who leaved in the Alps and Livy tells about incursions and actions of trouble from these tribes against Roman legions. These facts led to a military campaign against the "Camunni" and other people, concluded with the conquest of the Camonica Valley in 16 B.C.
