The first rock engravings left by the man in the Camonica Valley date about 10.000 years ago, when bands of hunters penetrated in the Alpine valleys. They carved the first figures in the area of Boario Terme: great rock drawings of elks and other Cervids, taken in the act of run or capture; in these images we discover all the spirit that inspired the Epi-palaeolithic hunters.

Dating: 8.500-5.500 B.C.
Corresponding archaeological period: Epi-palaeolithic and Proto-Neolithic.
Character of the style and principal represented themes: Sub-naturalistic style: profiles of great animals hit by spears.
Weapons and tools: spear, dart, boomerang.
Pets: absent.
Important technologic elements: trap and fish-trap.
Essential economic activities: hunting, fishing and picking up of spontaneous fruits.
Social structure: Clan.
Believes and religion: hunting and totemic rites.
