Campanine Rock 20a :
duel between warriors
In the last part of the I Millennium B.C. we can note the start of decline into Camunian rock art: the figures lose their dynamism and become ungraceful in the stereotyped repetition of combat and duel scenes. The figures lose the grace of former Centuries and become statical representations of characters with “square body” without dynamism in the motion.
This phase of decline was determined, not only by internal factors to the valley communities, but also by a new political-cultural realty that was present in the Po Valley.
Realty originated to a certain extent by the presence of the Roman entity (from the III Century) in the form initially of trade contacts that touched the Po Valley then flowed into creation of stable colonies strictly connected with Rome.
