| Archaeological itineraries: general map |
|
In the Reserve territory, during 10,000 years, the human presence is supported
by the rock engravings, "signs" of his millenarian presence, and by a series
of important ethnographic and environmental elements which give testimony to
evolution of the Alpine environment over thousands of years. Next to the prehistoric "ritual areas" (zones with prehistoric rock art) we can find many testimonies of more profane uses of this territory. In the Middle Ages, the decline of the prehistoric ritual customs, coinciding with the birth of villages around the churches, transformed this area from a place of sacred rites and performance in a producing place. At present, in this Reserve, sacred and profane realities are crossed and superimposed. There are four itineraries for agreeable and easy visits.
