Cimbergo
The castle with the medieval nucleus and the recent buildings
Cimbergo: Village of the ancient origin and perhaps placed upstream of a prehistoric walled village, is dominated by mass of the castle: stronghold (preserved only in the external walls) that conserves the old structure in many elements of the architectural value. The principal building with ovoid plan is placed on a rocky promontory that dominates a part of the Camonica Valley.

Into the side walls, still partially intact, we can find the rafters of the slabs now fallen. In origin the castle was

encircled from a series of walls that degraded in direction of the village. Very beautiful it is the portal of the entrance, pointed arch, realized with white granite. The importance of this castle is in connection with historical facts: here the peace between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines had been subscribed in 1378, and here the Emperor Barbarossa stayed during his visits in valley. The decadence of this stronghold started during the XVI Century.

From Cimbergo leave many excursion paths that take direction of the Adamello Mountain: very charming it is the path in direction of the Conca del Volano and the area of the old mills.
